Holiday Programme

Awesome Atawhai Activities

Out of School Care and Recreation. We are Child, Youth and Family Approved. We get funding from the Ministry of social Development which helps to subsidise the programme. We are also able to organize applications for families to Work and Income to help pay for the programme. Work and Income subsidies are available for parents who are either working, training or have a child with a disability. WINZ can subsidize up to 50 hours of childcare during school holidays.

Location:

Child and Youth Hall at Atawhai Community Church, 5 Todd Bush Road Atawhai

Our holiday programme runs every day of the holidays except public holidays from 8.30am until 5pm. A van service runs from the Information Centre in the City out to the Child and Youth facility at Atawhai Community Church. The programme is theme based with life skills taught from a Christian Perspective.
Age: 5 years to 13 years. We go on outings most days, including activities like Mapua Aquarium or the like, Big Day Out where we meet up with other holiday programmes. Whitebaiting in season, Skiing, Swimming, Gymnasium, Rock Climbing etc. Our skills include fabulous crafts, cooking in groups, and team games. Children are involved where possible in every aspect of the programme. We endeavour to settle children in so they feel supported and at home in our family like environment. We have fair and consistent behavioural management strategies and where possible take each child's needs into consideration. We will hire extra staff where needed so children are well looked after and cared for. We have low children to adult ratio.
